GIMPA Law welcomes its newly admitted students to its collegial campus for the 2016/2017 academic year. As a school, we pride ourselves in operating a system that combines cutting-edge scholarship with engaged teaching and learning.

Arguably the leading law school in the country with a tradition of promoting a critical and innovative learning of the law and the pursuit of legal scholarship, we are excited at the prospects offered by the new academic year and the possibilities it holds. Since its establishment, the faculty of law at GIMPA has quickly assumed a leadership position in legal education in Ghana.

Its attraction as a center of learning further derives from the prevalence of an involved and inclusive community it has succeeded in creating for the learning and application of the law in a developing country and globalized environment. GIMPA Law provides a congenial and vibrant community for preparing students to become excellent attorneys and also for those who may just be seeking knowledge in the law as corporate leaders, civil society activists and officers of international organizations.

Our faculty comprises some of the most prominent scholars and distinguished jurists from Ghana and across the world whose diverse backgrounds enrich the teaching and learning of the law. Students pursuing their legal education at GIMPA will discover that the school is especially adept at skills training and innovative learning. This includes its operation of clinical programs, which gives our students the opportunity to develop their lawyering skills while assisting live clients in a wide variety of contexts and practice areas under the supervision of our clinical faculty.

We also offer a range of simulation courses, which develop legal skills and help our graduates to be practice-ready when they complete their law school training and the recent opening of the first ever moot court facility adds up to GIMPA’s position as a preeminent center for legal training in Ghana. Through years of collaboration with the Leitner Center for International Law & Justice at the Fordham Law School in New York, the faculty of law at GIMPA provides an opportunity for our students to work on joint clinical projects with students from Fordham Law School and by so doing are able to gain insights and experiences in the cross-cultural application of the law to real life problems.

To our returning students, I welcome you back to campus. For our prospective students, we invite you to take a tour on our website and contact us for any further information you may need and we will be more than delighted to assist in any way possible. Welcome!!
